July 30 message from Coach Murphy
Wed July 30 2008 @ 01:17 PMWelcome to the 2008 St Agnes JV Football Season!
Our schedule for Camp will be as follows:
Tuesday, August 12 6 PM Bradford
Please arrive so as to be ready to practice at 6 PM. The boys should wear cleats, shorts and shirt and be prepared to learn how to run.
From 6 to 7 we will run a "speed and running program" for all of the boys. BRING PLENTY OF WATER....YOU WILL NEED IT
At approximately 730, when the varsity has completed their equipment distribution, we will distribute ours. At the moment, this is
planned to be at the Bradford Avenue Field
Wednesday, August 13 630PM St Agnes Cafeteria
Administrative night. This will give us some time to get the know the boys off the field and out of pads and do a bit of white board talk.
Additionally, we will watch two short videos, one is "Heads Up Tackling" and the other is Tackling Techniques. The first video is excellent
and was prepared by the National Association of Athletic Trainers. The second video was prepared based on the PSU approach to safe
tackling techniques.
At 745 PM, we will have the MANDATORY PARENT MEETING. My presentation should last only 15 or 20 minutes and I will be happy
to answer any and all questions. In that it is an Organization Policy that such meetings be held and attended by ALL parents, I would very
much appreciate the best efforts of all to be there.
Thursday, August 14 6 PM Bradford
Practice will begin promptly at 6 PM. Shorts, cleats and shirt. PLENTY OF WATER. We will run the "speed camp" again from
6 to 7 and will end practice at 730.
Friday, August 15
No practice. Holy Day of Obligation.
Saturday, August 16 9 AM Bradford
Full pads ready to hit Practice will be from 9 till 11.
For the remainder of the summer, we will practice Monday through Friday 6 to 8 and Saturday 9 to 11.
No practice on Sunday. Camp ends at the conclusion of practice on Friday the 29th.
We will make every effort to practice and scrimmage on the same schedule as Varsity.
During camp there will be a number of scrimmages. Dates. Times. Places. To be determined.
The boys MUST have molded rubber cleats. Please plan accordingly.
I am happy to answer any questions and look forward to a funfilled and safe season.
