SKS Football - Updates
Wed August 26 2009 @ 08:39 AMJust a couple of notes to update you with where we are - - Practice this week (August 24th) and next week (August 31st) will be Monday thru Thursday; Beginning the week of September 7th, we will practice Tuesday thru Friday. Practice time is from 6:00 to 7:45 PM. It is extremely important at this time of the season that players do not miss practices.
Next Thursday (Sept. 3rd) we have a scrimmage with Our Mother of Divine Providence (MDP) at Home. This will take the place of our normal practice that evening. It will be a "controlled scrimmage", with coaches on the field as they would be at practice.
Saturday, September 12th is our 1st game of the season against Our Lady of Fatima (Away - directions will be provided the week of the game). This will be a Pre-season game; our League / Division schedule will begin the following Saturday (Sept 19th). Our schedule will be released by the end of next week.
Our 5th & 6th grade team has 43 players registered. With this number of players, we will add "B" games to our schedule. The "B" games are played on Sunday afternoons (either a 1:00 PM or 2:15 kick-off), and will begin the weekend of Sept 26th. Our philosphy with regard to the B games is that they are important to get players playing time in real game situations. We will not be dividing the team into separate squads. They will continue to work as one team with the same coaching staff. I will review our B team philosophy at the Parent's Meeting.
Parent's Meeting - Next Wednesday (Sept 2nd) - Each season, we hold a parent's meeting at the end of the 2nd or 3rd week of practice to review where we are and what we have coming up for the season. We request that every player have 1 parent attend. We hold the meeting right at the field during the last 25 minutes of practice.
