Archdoicese Championship Meet Results
Thu June 04 2009 @ 06:02 PMThe SJR Hawks had a great day at the Archdiocese Championships on Saturday May 31. Josh Messina led the team winning medals in three events, including gold in the 200m and silver in the 400m and bronze in the 100m. Other boys medalists included Dan Corney, 4th place in the Cadet Boys 200m and 400m, and the Novice Boys 4x100m relay team of Ray Calderaio, Joe Clooney, Jack Gardy, Dominic Monchek and Michael England (alt.)finished in 3rd with a time of 60.00 The boys team scored 38 points and finish tied for 4th place overall. This was the teams highest finish since 2002.
The girls team also did well and scored 10.5 points finishing in 26 place. Amber Steigerwalt set a new SJR record in the Cadet 800m running 2:27.85 and finishing in third place. The Cadet Girls team of Amber Steigerwalt, Julie Gutekunst, Dana Adamson, and Shannon Dougherty also set SJR records in the 4x100m (54.36) and 4x200m relay (1:57.62). Dana Adamson also took fourth place in the High Jump and Shannon Dougherty took 5th place in the Triple Jump. the Minor Girls 4x100 relay team of Amber Stratz, Marissa Formica, Brianna Stratz, Gabrielle Calderaio and Megan Oyer (alt.) set a new minor girls team record (56.28) and finished in 7th position overall.
