We are running in the Region 32 Championship meet this Saturday. The first event starts at 9:30, there is a coaches meeting and a volunteers meeting at 9:00. THIS IS A LONG MEET! I am warning everyone, we run heats of every event, we run according to the schedule, we don't consolidate heats. The schedule, which is available in the track packet at www.philacyotrack.blogspot.com, has the last event going off at or near 3:00.
Some important notes: - I have to enter you in ra

Our season is getting ready to head into Championship mode. Our last regular season meet is this Sunday. At this meet the events will be: 4x800; 100; 1600; 400 and 4x100, Long Jump, Shot Put and Subnovice 100. The coach from St Monica's will conduct a shot put clinic on Sunday if anyone is interested.

We are running SEVEN teams in the Penn Relays this Tuesday, April 21, 2009. The Penn Relays is the country's oldest and most prestigious relay carnival, and carnival is the right word! Tuesday night the CYO takes over Franklin Field. The age groups are slightly different, only Juniors and Seniors, based on birth year.
I have entered the following teams:
Junior Girls: Allison Snarponis, Maura Dougherty, Annie McShea, Samantha Talucci and Sofi Sowden Senior Girls: Margot Ste

We run once again at Haverford HS tomorrow. The meet will start a little earlier, as we are going to try to run the 4x800 at 12:05, then the Subnovices around 12:30. Subnovices will be run promptly, so please make sure that you are there in time to warmup and get set up. I will send separate notes to the families, but I would like to run the Hansons, Mountain and Evans boys in the 4x800. I would like to field a girls team, but know that this week we have a few travelers.

As a follow up to the earlier note I sent out, we are scheduled to begin our season tomorrow at Haverford HS with a start time of 12:30. The weather forecast is terrible. The Commissioner will make a "Go" or "No Go" decision early in the morning. I will send out emails and start making phone calls as soon as I get the message.
If you don't hear from me, we are running. Please make sure you dress appropriately.
This is a PRACTICE meet, no pressure, just some fun. Don't wo

Just a quick reminder that I know I haven't shared yet, regairding practice and rain, if it is raining in Radnor at 5:00 PM, there is no practice.
Tonight's practice (3/19) will follow the above rule, if it's raining at 5:00, no practice. If it's not raining we are running. Two SKS track alums, both sophomores at Radnor HS and siblings of teammates, will help with practice tonight.
If anyone is available and interested, I will be holding an informal practice, weather

In recent years we have had disappointments due to injury. The link below takes you to a video where a college runner, with a VERY fast time, explains how strengthening his core muscles helped him improve. Take 5 minutes to watch the video. Try to do some of the exercises he does.
We will be incorporating some of these into our stretching and strengthening routines.
